The noble king was interested in his own freedom, he was never one to fall in love. But he was told to marry by the lords in his kingdom, this would allow him an heir to his thrown. He was told to find a wife, so he asked a poor man named Janicula if he can marry his beautiful daughter, Griselda. They agreed, but before they married, he told Griselda that she must promise to obey all of his rules and wants and also to do it with pleasure and cheer. She agreed and soon after they got married. Not long after the wedding, Griselda had a baby girl. In order to test his wife's patience's, the king decided to take the baby away. He told his wife that somebody will come take there newly born child and he hopes that him taking away their child will no way lesson her love for him. She agreed, and the baby girl was taken away. Four years later, Griselda has a baby boy. After two full years with her baby boy, the king decided to test her patience one again. He tells her that somebody will come get their little boy and that he hopes this will no way lesson her love for him. When his children are older, his daughter at the age of 12 and his son at the age of 7, he declares a divorce form Griselda and says he would like to marry again, also she must go back home. She agreed not knowing that this will test her patience. He asked her to help his new bride get ready, not knowing that the girl is actually her daughter who had been living with a loving family in bologna for the past 12 years. The king couldn't stand being so rude to his wife so he tells her that he has been hiding her children from her at safe loving home. He tells her that he was just trying to test her patience. She forgives him and they live happily ever after.
